Commentary: Reduction is very auspicious and blameless if combined with sincerity. Be steadfast in this. It is beneficial to act. How? Two small bowls may be used for offerings.
Image: A lake at the foot of a mountain symbolizes reduction. Thus the superior man checks his anger and controls his passions.
Changing Lines
1. Helping another when one's own work is finished is blameless, but know how much one may reduce others.
2. Rectitude is of benefit, but refrain from undertakings. Help others without harming oneself.
3. On a journey, two's company, three's a crowd. The solitary traveler finds a companion.
4. When he eliminates his own faults his friends approach rejoicing. This is blameless.
5. He is aided. Ten oracles could not deny this. Greatly auspicious.
6. If one benefits without harming others there is no cause for remorse. Rectitude will bring good fortune. It is good to go somewhere. You have servants but no private house.
